Ticket/Fare Information

Symons Bus accepts both contactless tap on/tap off and cash on all services. Fares are calculated based on the number of sections travelled. Return tickets are double the single fare.

💳 Contactless Payment (Tap to Pay)

Tell the driver your destination when you board. The driver will calculate your fare and you can pay by tapping your bank card, smartphone, or wearable device.

💵 Cash

Cash fares are accepted on all services. Tell the driver your destination and pay on boarding. Exact change is appreciated.


Single Trip Fares

What is a section? Sections are distance-based segments defined and set by Symons Bus and Coach Service for each route. The number of sections between your boarding and alighting stops determines which fare band applies to your trip.


Regional Excursion Day (RED) Ticket

$2.50 all-day travel

The RED ticket gives eligible concession holders unlimited travel on all Symons Bus services for just $2.50, valid until midnight on the day of purchase. Purchase from the driver on boarding — you must present your valid concession card each time you board.

Eligible cards: Pensioner Concession eCard (NSW, VIC, or ACT) · NSW and interstate Seniors Card · War Widow/ers Card


Student Fares

Primary, secondary, and senior students travel at concession rates — refer to the fare table above. Students must present a current school ID each time they board.

Travel FREE with an SSTS Pass

Your child may be eligible for a subsidised travel pass through the NSW Government’s School Student Transport Scheme (SSTS). The pass must be presented on each boarding — otherwise standard student (concession) fares apply.

Lost or damaged pass? Replacement passes are available for $10 — contact our office.


Tertiary Students

University and TAFE students are eligible for concession fares with a valid, current student ID card presented on each boarding.

② To travel free with an SSTS Pass, present your current pass on boarding — student fares apply without it.
â‘¢ Healthcare Cards do not entitle holders to concession fares.
â‘£ Bicycles and animals (except accredited assistance animals) will not be carried.
