Arrive in plenty of time. Sometimes the bus can be a few minutes early.
When the bus arrives, signal the driver clearly โ raise your hand so the driver knows to stop.
Have your bus pass, card, or money ready before the bus arrives.
Stand at least 1 metre back from the kerb. The front corner of the bus may extend past the edge of the road as it pulls in โ the rear wheels are further back than on a car.
Wait until the bus has completely stopped before attempting to board.
Your driver needs to concentrate on the road. Respect the driver and other passengers by keeping noise to a minimum and avoiding any disruption.
If using a portable music player, wear headphones and keep the volume low so other passengers are not disturbed.
If no seats are available, stand and hold onto a rail, facing forward.
Do not leave your bag in the aisle. Place it in an overhead compartment or under your seat.
Keep food and drinks in your bag until you get off. Bottled water may be consumed during travel โ keep the cap closed between sips to prevent spillage.
If adults are standing, children are expected to offer them their seat.
