How to Hail (Signal) at a Bus Stop

Know Your Bus Knowledge

At designated bus stops, the driver needs a clear signal from you before they can safely pull over to stop. Without one, they may not be able to stop in time and will continue past.

How to Signal the Driver

๐Ÿ‘€

Watch for the bus approaching from the direction it is coming from. Signal early โ€” as soon as you can see the bus โ€” so the driver has enough distance to safely slow down and pull in.

๐Ÿ–๏ธ

Raise your hand clearly and hold it out toward the road. Make eye contact with the driver if you can โ€” this confirms they have seen you.

๐ŸšŒ

Wait until the bus has fully stopped before stepping toward it to board.

If you don’t signal in time: If the bus has no safe opportunity to slow down before reaching the stop, the driver cannot stop. Always signal as early as possible.
